Once you think that once you have achieved your definition of success, you will actually be happy, and everything will be right with the world. This is when you will feel rainbows and butterflies and everything is perfect, nothing could go wrong. This could be true for you. The simple fact is, though, not everyone will be successful. Only a select few will reach the top of wealth and power.

The great majority will be stuck living average lives.

Does this mean only a few people will be happy? Do you really need to be rich, powerful and successful in order to feel happy?

NO! Is the answer thankfully!

Happiness is a state of mind.

You do not need items of monetary value or power over others to bring happiness to your life. You can be rich and still be incredibly unhappy. Whereas you can have no money at all and be as happy as can be!

Most of you also probably think you need to spend a ton of money so that you can be happy. If you’ve got the money, then good for you. However, for those who don’t want to go bankrupt just to get a brief moment of happiness, we will be reviewing 10 simple tips that will help bring some happiness to your life.

  1. Smile Like You Mean It

    Anyone can fake smile. But a real smile? You know the one that reaches your eyes? To produce a real smile, think about something positive, like a happy or funny thought. You will find yourself smiling the second the thought comes to your mind.

  2. Eat Your Favorite Dessert

    Love ice cream? How about dark chocolate? Don’t starve yourself of life’s simple pleasures, go out there and grab a bite of your favorite treat. It’s all about moderation, don’t binge. Savor that treat, sit and really enjoy every bite.

  3. Be Grateful

    What would you do if you lost everything in your life? Would it devastate you? Yes. Be thankful now for what god has given you. Be grateful for the friends and the family who make your life worth living. Another great way to start being grateful is to start a gratitude journal.   4. Live in the Present

    Don’t get caught up in the past or fantasize too much about the future. Look around you and focus on something that can make you happy instantly.

    You are not the only one who likes to be happy. Don’t just focus on yourself, if you know someone who can use your help, do it! Get out there and help them out! Or you could start by smiling at who you pass by on the street. For no reason at all, just smile and say hello! You could even wave!

  7. Go on a Road Trip

    There is a certain power in breaking away from your busy life and changing your environment. Don’t be afraid to escape the grind and recharge in nature. Take an adventure to the countryside or the mountains or the beach!Roadtrip

  8. Treat Yourself to Something Nice

    You know what’s going to make you happy. If you can afford it or can forgo a bill…then live a little! Go for it and treat yourself to something nice. Indulge in a relaxing body massage, or splurge and get your nails done. We all love the massaging chair when you get a pedicure.

  9. Watch Your Favorite Comedy

    I could never get sick of watching Friends. Watching old re-runs or searching on YouTube for popular comedy channels is a good way to put a smile on your face. A few silly videos can do wonders for your state of mind!

  10. Get Enough Sleep

    Sleep deprivation will do more harm than good. According to Healthline, weight gain, low sex drive, risk of heart disease are just a few of the many negative side effects of no sleep. Make sure you get a good night’s rest, depending on the person, you should get between 5-8 hours of sleep. This is important so you don’t spend the next day sleepy and grumpy! Trust me staying up into the wee night hours for a project or school is not worth it. Get your sleep!sleep

Learn to love yourself and make yourself happy first. It’s going to be hard making others happy if you can’t even be happy yourself. Make the right choices and the right decisions.  Start by replacing your bad habits with positive ones.  Make an effort to be happy and learn how to maintain that happiness in the face of challenges – your road to ‘happily ever after’  has just begun.
