One of the many amazing things our brain can do is create future scenarios in immense detail. This will help you to improve performance, achieve your goals and manifest your greatest desires.
There are many exercises you can do to help you get started with visualization. I was introduced to a technique called priming. For 20 minutes you visualize happy memories, healing thoughts for you and everyone around you, and you visualize three goals that you wish to become real. I love it, it’s great and you should try it!
This technique does involve some screaming at the end and a few months back I was taking my daughter to school one morning, my neighbor was out taking care of their plants. We exchanged a good morning and how do you do, then he asked me how my dog was doing. At first, I was confused and said I don’t have a dog, I do have cats though?! And he said “Oh, well I hear this sound every morning and I thought something happened to your dog….” I could not stop laughing when he said that. I told him no, I do these visualization exercises every morning and that is me screaming. By the look on his face, he thought I was going to say something different. It was hilarious.
Visualization for Success
Creative visualization is a mindfulness exercise that can help you be successful in all aspects of your life. The benefits of creative visualization include reduced stress, boost in self-esteem, better focus, and more motivation to name a few. The more you focus on the things you desire, the better chance you have at getting them.
Follow these steps to use creative visualization for success:
Establishing Your Goal
What do you want to be, have, and/or do? Get creative, what does your heart desire? Get specific and passionate about what you want to achieve. Brainstorm ideas and write down why you want to achieve those goals. You can list all of your goals or you can choose to focus on 2 or 3 of them. Visualization is another method to eliminate procrastination.
Enter a Meditative State
For visualization to be effective, you need to be in the right state of mind. Prepare for visualization, go for a walk, find a quiet place, and take a few deep breaths. Continue to breathe deep and focus on your breath and slowing down. This will help you have a more intense and meaningful visualization session.
Visualize the Goal
When you are relaxed, and ready start to create an image of what you most desire. Create a detailed mental scene of what it looks like as you achieve your goal. Visualize it happening now, what scene is playing out? What do you hear? Who is there? Do you smell anything? Include as many details as you can for this to be effective. Be sure to look at it from your perspective, not as the observer. You can also choose to change the scenery every time you visualize to help you get more detailed in your goal.
Add Positive Energy
Make strong, encouraging statements to yourself as you visualize. Tell yourself the goal is real, and you have already achieved it. Speak the words out loud to help the feeling resonate in your body. Laugh and smile to help your body feel as you visualize yourself achieving your goal.
Hold onto Feelings
The most important step is visualizing the goal. Though you are more likely to achieve your goals if you hold onto the feelings you created curing the visualization process. Keep the feeling of pride, happiness, and confidence as you move throughout your day. Keep a journal and write down everything you visualized to achieve success.
Focus and Repeat
Really add extra power to your visualization by setting a reminder to complete the exercise a few times a day. This will help the scene become more natural to you and help your brain believe it already is your reality. Make a habit and repeat daily if not multiple times per day.
Get Visual
There is a big difference in imaging your goals and making them feel so real your mind believes it has already happened. The more you surround yourself with imagery or words related to your goal, the more real it will become to you.
Get creative and make a vision board. Use poster board, paints, and markers along with newspapers and magazines to find images and words that relate to your goals. Cut everything out and glue the images to the poster board. Use the paints and markers to draw pictures or write more words. Get inspired by your goal. Hang the vision board up somewhere you will see it every day to help remind you why you started. You can also create a fun phone background with some words to help remind you as well.
Daily Affirmations
Use affirmations to help build the feelings of happiness and success. Not only will this help boost your confidence, it will also help lay a clear path for you to achieve your goals. Select positive statements that will help lift you up. Use the statements in your vision board or phone collages.
Commit to Practice Daily
To make any habit stick, you need to continue to do that habit. The same goes for visualization and manifestation, the more you practice the quicker you will be in the frame of mind that helps pave the way to success. Be sure to leave your phone off or away, turn off the TV and don’t let anything distract you.
It does not matter your goal, whether you want to get a promotion at work, lose weight, improve your overall health or start a successful business, creative visualization is a great tool to help you. Creative visualization is extremely powerful in helping you achieve success and you will still need to put in the hard work, and dedication. Don’t forget repeat, repeat, repeat!
